Georgetown & San Antonio: 10/30 - 11/7/13.

From Rockport, we went back for a short visit in Georgetown to see family and friends, (breakfast with Norvell and Bonnie, luch with Terrace,) and take care of some final details (annual physical for Paul, drop off more stuff at the storeroom, etc.) on 10/30 through Halloween.  We stayed at the New Life RV park in Georgetown. This is a nice park, with a fair percentage of "full-timers", bur normally always space for us transients.  Very clean park, with nice facilities and friendly manager. Although we didn't get to visit it this trip, there is an excellent County Park just 1/2 mile down the County Road from the New Life RV park (See my previous post.)

From Georgetown, BB, Henri and me pulled the RV back to San Antonio.  This trip, we stayed at the Admiralty RV Resort.  This is a very nice independent park with ample RV slots, nice facilities, and great management.

We will likely stay here again when we return to San Antonio.  During our stay in San Antonio, we helped Kathy Corder and Tina Southard move Tina's Mom, Taki Southard into her beautiful new home in Del Web Hill Country Retreat in San Antonio.  The move and unpacking went as smoothly as moves can go, and despite a few glitches and delays on appliances, Tina and Kathy were able to get Taki's house beautifully furnished and ready for move-in.  Bonnie and I helped where we could and offered some suggestions on a landscape plan for the new home.  Bonnie and I also had a nice visit with BB's cousin cousin Betty Chandler.

BB and I also signed up for an "RV driving school" while we were in San Antonio.  This is an excellent program for new RV'rs offered through the Escapees RV Club.  We had a private instructor for 1/2 day on two consecutive days, and we spent a great deal of time not only in a vacant lot near Sea World learning to back the RV, but also driving on roads in differing traffic and terrain.  All in all - a good confidence-building experience.

Before leaving San Antonio, we drove over to Boerne and had new tires put on the trailer in preparation for our trip west to Arizona and eventually North Bend Oregon to spend time with my son Kelly and with Tami and Devon.

After a final bon voyage dinner and visit with Kathy, Tina and Taki at Jacala Mexican Restaurant, we headed east towards Bastrop and a visit with our daughter Shelly and her family.

On the way to Bastrop, we had to stop at Buc-ees for Beaver-related stuff, then the camper store for more pile-o-camper stuff, including this neat RV map which will (hopefully) be graphic evidence of our RV travels.  So far, we can't seem to get untracked from Texas, but will continue to post as we make our initial "Clockwise Tour #1."

Till next time.
