Montana: August 2014

After completing our cruise, BB, Henri and me headed for Montana to visit friends.

In her younger years, BB, Fount and Fran lived in Bozeman, Montana, and were involved in activities with church friends in that area.  It was great to see old friends and to refresh memories.

Bozeman is a vibrant city with approximately 40,000 residents (2010 Census), and home to Montana State University.

Montana is a beautiful state with sweeping vistas and soaring mountains that make the State's logo "Big Sky Country" proud.  It's a little too cold in Montana for this bunch of misplaced Texans, but August in Montana is a prime time.

One of our first drives was to look at the country adjacent to the Bridger Mountain Range.  It was one of those remarkable drives where the light seemed just right.  Here are some photos of that trip:

Next we drove in the Gallatin Gateway / Ennis area.

We visited friends in the fascinating town of Butte, was treated to some superb hospitality, and took a quick peek at the Butte Berkeley Pit, where tons of Copper ore was extracted in the past:

Unfortunately, the motorhome needed some repairs, so we spent a couple of nights at the Belgrade Freightliner shop until repairs were completed.

Montana feels like "home."  We'll be back!

Next up, we head into Canada to visit family.  Stay tuned.
