Henri's Trip to the Dentist

Poor Henri.  He normally has a fairly sedate life.  Waking up for a good rub and wrestle in the big bed, early morning walk to do his business, breakfast, then a series of naps during the day on the sofa, underneath his favorite blanket.
Henri's Favorite Position in the RV

One day, we noticed a slight swelling under his right eye, so we hustled him into a vet clinic recommended by fellow RV'rs.
Do I Have to Go in There?

The vet informed us that Henri had an abscessed tooth.  The vet said we could administer antibiotics and clear up the infection, but it would likely become infected again in the future and recommended extraction.

At the word "extraction", Henri immediately tucked his tail between his legs and recommended we go outside to visit the fake fire hydrant, then go very very far from here.

So the vet loaded us up with antibiotics which we administered prior to the procedure to remove the infection.  Henri didn't mind the pills so much as we wrapped them up in a bite of string cheese.  We didn't use the word "extraction" around Henri that week.

When the day came, we took Henri back to the vet for the procedure.  We dropped him off at 8:00 am and came back to pick him up around 4:00 pm.  We felt so bad about having to drop him off, we went down to the Horseshoe Cafe in Benson to have breakfast and finish it off with a slice of Coconut Creme Pie.  (It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.)

When we picked him up, the vet advised that not only did he have one abscess, he had three infected/compromised teeth, and she had removed all three of them.  Henri was coming out of the anesthesia well, but was still not the buddy we knew and loved.  This picture of him leaving the vet says it all.  Perhaps it could be captioned "Could we go far far away now?  And could we hurry?"

Can We Go Now?
Henri's back to his normal self (minus a few teeth) and is doing great.  However anytime we head in the direction of the vet, he jumps under the blanket in BB's lap.  Guess I can't blame him much.

Till next time.
