Hiking in the Whetstones: December 16, 2013

Bonnie, Henri and I have been so fortunate to meet some wonderful people while here at TTRV.  One couple we met, Fred and Mary Ann Hoff, are from Vermont, and the four of us share an interest in hiking.  Fred and Mary Ann have been RV'ing for several years, and Bonnie and I have learned to use them as a source of good information on the overall RV lifestyle, as our tastes align surprisingly  closely to their tastes and experiences.  Not only are they an incredible couple, they have an Australian Sheppard dog named "Gibson" which has become a "best bud" of Henri.

On Gibson's and Henri's first meeting, Gibson, who is a much larger dog than our wienie dog, advertised his good nature by laying down in the road to get on the same level as our 6-inch wienie dog.  Much tail wagging followed, and the two dogs have been great trail pals since.

There are so many beautiful mountain ranges in this part of SE Arizona.  That's one of the things BB and I find fascinating; watching the morning (or evening sun) play over the ranges and painting beautiful pictures.  One of the ranges near TTRV is the Whetstones.

The Whetstones are part of the Coronado National Forest.  At Iron Springs, in the Whetstones, is where Wyatt Earp fought in a gunfight during hr Earp Vendetta Ride (according to Wikipedia.)

Kartchner Caverns State Park, which BB and I hope to visit is in the central-east of the Whetstones.

Here are some pictures from our hike into the Whetstones.
